Common WordPress problems we help prevent or fix
Updates nobody wants to click
WordPress sites rely on a stack of plugins from different developers. When updates pile up for months, running them all at once is when conflicts tend to show up. We update on a schedule, after a fresh backup, and check your key pages afterward.
The "critical error" screen
A plugin that doesn't work with a newer PHP version, or a half-finished update, can take down the front end. We read the actual error, pause or roll back the cause, and tell you what happened. Our critical error guide covers first steps you can take yourself.
Plugin sprawl
Sliders from a 2019 redesign, two SEO plugins, a contact form plugin nobody uses: extra plugins add risk and slow pages. We review what's installed with you and remove what you don't need.
Spam, malware and unknown admin users
Abandoned plugins and old logins are common ways in. We scan monthly, review who has admin access, and help with cleanup if something gets through. See what to do if your WordPress site is hacked.
Forms that quietly stop sending
WordPress often sends email through the web server, which inboxes tend to distrust. We test your forms each month and can help set up more reliable delivery.
What this looks like in practice
A typical example: a contact form plugin releases a major version that changes how fields are stored. On a site updated monthly, we'd take a backup, update on a staging copy or during a quiet hour, submit a test form, and roll back if the test fails, then note it in your monthly report. On WordPress, regular backups are kept for 30 days on every plan, with updates monthly on Basic and weekly on Growth and Pro.
Plans at a glance
Three flat monthly plans, month-to-month. $0 and discounted builds need a 12-month plan. Cancel anytime online or by emailing hello@keptweb.com.
- Basic, $49/mo: uptime monitoring every 5 minutes, regular backups and monthly tested updates on WordPress (Squarespace, Wix and Shopify use their own platform backups), a monthly security scan, 1 small edit per month, and a reply target of 2 business days.
- Growth, $99/mo: everything in Basic, plus weekly tested updates, up to 4 small edits per month, Google Business Profile updates, 1 blog post per month, and a reply target of 1 business day.
- Pro, $149/mo: everything in Growth, plus up to 10 small edits per month, 2 blog posts per month, basic SEO, and a same-business-day reply target for requests received by 2 pm PT, Mon–Fri.
A small edit is a change that takes about 30 minutes or less, such as updating text, swapping an image, or changing hours or prices. New website builds: Starter $349, or $0 with any 12-month plan; Business $849, or $0 with a 12-month Growth or Pro plan; Store $1,849, or $499 with a 12-month Pro plan. $0 and discounted builds need a 12-month plan; if you cancel early, you pay only the unpaid part of the build fee (see how it's calculated).
Frequently asked questions
Do you need my hosting login or just WordPress admin?
Usually both. WordPress admin covers updates and edits; hosting access lets us check PHP versions, error logs and server-level backups. We ask you to create separate logins for us, so you can remove our access anytime.
Will you update plugins automatically?
No blind auto-updates. We update on your plan's schedule after a backup, then check key pages and forms.
Can you work with a page builder like Elementor or Divi?
Yes. Page builders are common on small business sites. We keep them updated alongside your other plugins and test pages built with them after updates.
What if a premium plugin license has expired?
We'll let you know. An expired license usually means no updates, which becomes a security risk over time. You decide whether to renew or replace it.
Who owns the site and hosting?
You do. Your hosting, domain and WordPress install stay in your name.
