Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information KeptWeb ("KeptWeb", "we", "us") collects through keptweb.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. KeptWeb is a website maintenance and website-building service based in Beverly Hills, California.

Information we collect

• Contact form. When you use our contact form we collect what you enter, such as your name, email address, website address and message. The form is processed by FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a third-party form service, which receives your submission and forwards it to us by email. FormSubmit processes the data under its own privacy policy.
• Instant website check. If you use our instant website check, you must enter an email address before results are shown. The website address you enter is sent to Google PageSpeed Insights, a Google service, to analyze the page; Google processes it under its own privacy policy. KeptWeb receives your email address, the website address, its scores and a summary of the check results, through FormSubmit, so we can email you the results and follow up about that website. We do not share your email. If you also tick "Also email me the full report", we use the same details to email you a fuller write-up within 1 business day.
• Checklist download. If you request our website maintenance checklist, we receive your name, email address and consent choice, through FormSubmit. We use them to send you information about the checklist and our website care services. You can ask us to stop or to delete your details at any time by emailing hello@keptweb.com.
• Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
• Payments. Subscriptions are paid through Stripe. Stripe collects your payment card details, billing name, email and address directly; we do not see or store your full card number. We receive limited information from Stripe such as your name, email, plan and payment status. Stripe processes data under its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy).
• Website access. To do the work you subscribe to, you may give us access to your website, hosting or domain accounts. We use that access only to provide the service.
• Technical data. keptweb.com uses Umami Cloud, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not set cookies, to count page visits; it receives page addresses, referrers and basic device and browser information. We strip common ad-click identifiers from page addresses before they are counted. We do not use advertising trackers or cookies of our own. Our site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log basic technical data (such as IP address) for security and operations under GitHub's privacy statement.

Categories of information, in plain terms

• Identifiers and contact details: name, email address, phone number if you give it, and your business website address.
• Business and billing details: your plan, payment status and billing contact, received from Stripe (not your full card number).
• What you send us: the content of your messages, change requests and files.
• Cancellation form: your name, account email, website address and any note you add, sent to us through FormSubmit.
• Website check data: your email address, the website address you test, its scores and a summary of the results (and whether you asked for the full report).
• Basic technical data: page visits counted by our analytics service and server logs kept by our host.

These are shared only with the service providers named on this page, as described under "Sharing".

Shared logins and website access

Where your platform allows it, we ask you to add us as our own user (for example a WordPress user, Squarespace contributor, Wix collaborator or Shopify staff account) instead of sending us your own password. We use any access you give us only to do the work you asked for, we do not share it with anyone else, and you can remove it at any time. When you cancel, we hand back access to your accounts, and you can remove our user accounts. Please don't send payment card numbers by email.

Watch out for impersonators: we never ask for payment outside our Stripe checkout, and we never ask for payment card numbers by email or text. Our emails come only from @keptweb.com addresses. If a message claiming to be from KeptWeb looks wrong, check with us at hello@keptweb.com before acting.

How we use information

To reply to inquiries, provide and bill for our services, send service-related messages (such as monthly reports), keep records required by law, and protect against fraud or abuse.

Sharing

We do not sell or "share" (for cross-context behavioral advertising) your personal information. We disclose it only to service providers that help us operate (such as FormSubmit, Stripe, our email provider and hosting providers), when required by law, or in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business. If you tick the optional business address box on our new-business form, we may share your name, email address and message with our partner ABC Virtual Offices so they can contact you about a business address. We don't share them otherwise.

Retention

We keep inquiry emails and customer records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet tax, accounting and legal obligations, then delete them. Website check results and cancellation form submissions are deleted after 90 days, unless we need them longer to serve an active customer or meet a legal obligation.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you may have the right under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to request a copy of it, to request correction or deletion, and to opt out of any sale or sharing (we do not sell or share). We will not discriminate against you for using these rights. To make a request, email hello@keptweb.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may use an authorized agent.

Children

Our services are for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
