Updating your hours and forms on Squarespace

Changing your hours on Squarespace takes minutes once you know where they live. Making sure your contact form actually delivers is the part people tend to skip.

Where your hours might be hiding

On most Squarespace sites, hours show up in more than one place, and updating one doesn't update the others. Before you start, open your site and note every spot your hours appear. Typical places:

  • A text block on the homepage, contact page or footer. This is plain text you edit directly.
  • Business Information in your site settings. Some templates and blocks pull hours and address from there automatically.
  • The footer, which is shared across every page. Edit it once and it changes everywhere.
  • An announcement bar you may have used for a past holiday closure that's still showing.
  • Scheduling, if you use Acuity or Squarespace's booking tools, which keep their own availability settings.

Updating hours step by step

  1. Log in and open the page that shows your hours. Click Edit on the page or the footer.
  2. Click into the text block and change the hours. Use a consistent format, for example "Mon–Fri, 9 am–5 pm."
  3. Save, then open the page in a private browser window and on your phone to confirm the change is live.
  4. Check your Business Information settings so anything pulling from there matches.
  5. Update your Google Business Profile, Yelp and any booking tool to the same hours. Mismatched hours between your site and Google confuse customers more than almost anything else.

Squarespace changes its menus from time to time, so labels may differ slightly from what's described here. If something isn't where you expect, Squarespace's own help center is the source of truth.

Why your form might not be reaching you

A Squarespace form can look perfectly fine to visitors while submissions go nowhere useful. Common reasons:

  • The form's storage option sends submissions to an email address nobody checks anymore, such as a former staff member or an old Gmail.
  • Submissions arrive but your email provider files them as spam or promotions.
  • The form was connected to Google Drive or Mailchimp, and that connection expired when a password changed.
  • A required field was added that doesn't make sense on mobile, so people give up.

A five-minute form check

  1. Open the form block's settings and look at Storage. Confirm the email address is one you read every day.
  2. Submit the form yourself from your phone, using a different email from the one it delivers to.
  3. Check that inbox, plus spam. If it's missing, check the Squarespace Profiles or form submissions area, where entries may still be stored.
  4. If you use a connected service, open it and confirm the entry arrived there too.
  5. Add a filter or "never send to spam" rule for Squarespace form notifications in your email.

Repeat this test once a month, and any time you change email providers or staff. It's one of the most useful habits for any site that relies on inquiries.

When handing it off makes sense

If your hours change often, you run seasonal promotions, or you'd rather not learn the editor, these are exactly the small edits our plans cover. You email the change; we make it on your site, check the form, and keep Google in sync on Growth and Pro. See Squarespace website help for what's included.

Frequently asked questions

I changed my hours but Google still shows the old ones. Why?

Google Business Profile is separate from your website. Update your hours there directly. Google can also suggest edits based on other sources, so check your profile occasionally.

Where do Squarespace form submissions go if the email fails?

Depending on your settings, entries may also be stored in Squarespace (in the Profiles or form submissions area) or a connected service. Check there before assuming a message was lost.

Can I show special holiday hours on Squarespace?

Yes. A simple option is a dated note near your regular hours or an announcement bar. Set a reminder to remove it afterward so it doesn't linger.

How often should I test my contact form?

Monthly is a good habit, plus any time you change email accounts, staff or form settings.

Can someone else update my Squarespace site without my password?

Yes. Squarespace lets you invite contributors with their own login and a set level of permissions. You stay the owner and can remove their access whenever you like, which is safer than sharing your own password.
